What We Collect

We collect account data, usage and billing metadata, and the file data needed to run the AI operations you request.

Where Your Project Files Live

PixLate is local-first. In the browser, projects and session data stay in local folders or browser-local storage. In the desktop app, projects live in local app storage on your device. PixLate does not act as your cloud project drive.

When Files Are Sent For Processing

Cleanup, OCR, and Visual AI translation securely send the selected page image needed for that operation to the processing backend. PDF Text Layer translation sends the extracted text, page geometry, target language, and any instruction you provide. Creating a native PDF preview or selectable PDF sends the source PDF and your edited text regions for processing. PixLate Agent layout review sends the rendered page preview and text regions. These processing flows are separate from where your saved project files live.

How We Use Data

Data is used to provide translation services, improve product quality, secure the platform, and process payments.

Retention

To recover interrupted paid Agent work, we temporarily store response text and layout data, including source text echoed in a response, under your account. These responses are available for replay for seven days; expired response content is deleted by periodic backend cleanup. Source PDFs, page images, and prompts are not retained in this recovery store. Local response copies stay with your project.

We retain account and billing records as required for operations and legal compliance. Project files saved in PixLate remain under your control on your device unless you export or share them elsewhere.
